Canon T3i for feature film?

Does anyone use this camera for shooting features? I'd like to know the pros and cons. I've been doing my research and so far it seems that this is a great camera for me to get for start shooting features (and it's more in my price range than the 7D which I also love). However, one con that concerned me that I've read about is when the camera is moving (panning, rotating, tilting etc) it goes out of focus and this isn't apparent while shooting, it is only shown during playback. Also how great is the depth of field? Could I focus the foreground and blur the background or vice versa? Please share your thoughts and if you feel this camera is good for shooting a feature 90 minute (or even longer) movie. Thanks!

Canon EOS Rebel T3i is good for videos too. Is this a joke?
Jim A | May 20, 2012
We've discussed digital cameras a "film" already. Learn to your terms. This problem with CMOS sensors is true - I know because I've had the problem and oh, by the way, you do see it in shooting. Panning too quickly the sensor apparently can't keep up with the movement so it's best to let the action take place without moving the camera. But, I've had instances when people were walking across frame and I got a jitter in their movement. They aren't the best for video but if you know how to use them properly and what to avoid they'll do a pretty good job. If you want to make features you'd better buy a professional level video / film camera. But, if you do film it's very expensive.

Hi Raghav: You asked a similar Question regarding the Canon 7D, so I gave a comprehensive answer over in that Q&A: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index? qid=20120520090920AADIiUi But keep in mind, since you appear to be in India and this is a world-wide forum, that the Rebel T-series is marketed in Europe as the 500/600D-series (T2i = 550D, T3i = 600D, etc.) and as the Kiss X-series in Japan. All DSLRs will give you the "bokeh" (narrow DOF effect); choosing the correct lens focal length + aperture (and required ISO or "gain" setting) are important factors, not just CMOS sensor size. I see the nitpicking "film vs video" photogs have descended upon this Q&A with their semantics. C'mon guys, lighten up with the non-native English types; we all know what he's asking. hope this helps, --Dennis C.

Recommended as a first-time DSLR, the Canon T3i has ample of features. There is so much to do with this camera. As soon as I learn one feature, it's on to the next exciting one. Takes amazing photographs. Just last night, I took some outstanding low-light shots that were exciting for a newbie like me, and would not have been do-able with a standard point-and-shoot. I really like the swivel on the live view when doing video clips, which was another reason I chose this camera over competitive models. You can use the live view to shoot stills as well, but I'm trying to learn the manual features and the viewfinder to get better acquainted with the camera.

Which DSLR should I buy?

I'm a beginner at the moment and have decided to do some fashion photography for a blog. I can't spend a large amount of money so rule those cameras out, but i need a DSLR that wouldn't disappoint me. Which one should I go for? Does Nikon have the best ones?

Jim A | May 20, 2012
You'll get other recommendations as well such as Canon. I use their dslr cameras and have never been disappointed by them. Not too much money? What does that mean? $500 is the bottom you'll find in consumer level dslr cameras. Personally since you're just starting I'd recommend the Canon t3 or t1i.
Crim Liar | May 20, 2012
First up, I'll admit I may be biased towards Sony.... Nikon, are currently into an update phase with three new cameras in the last six months. Canon, have updated one of their "top of the line" cameras, but the rest of the range could do with an update SOON. I'm tempted to come in at the very bottom of the market here, but I think you may find the expansion abilities a little limited if you decide to become more creative, so it gets tough. I also wouldn't buy a camera purely on the basis of what any of us says here on-line, you have to go feel how they sit in your hand. Recommendation 1: Fujuifilm XS-1 This is a bridge camera, not a DSLR, but it is a great all-rounder and despite the apparent high price, probably the cheapest way to get a great camera that will do most of what you need. It has an electronic viewfinder (EVF) which is second only to that in the Sony SLT-A65 and SLT-A77. In this case the EVF is a positive advantage showing you EXACTLY what the sensor will capture, meaning less post production than a true DSLR. Recommendation 2: Sony A57 (or A65 would be even better) Again an EVF so you see exactly what you capture, but at least initially you may have to consider extra spending on lenses (the kit lens that comes in some bundles is one that I'd avoid). It'll give you greater flexibility in the long run than the Fujifilm but at greater cost. There is a cheaper model in the Sony range but it's expansion capabilities are more limited. Both the Sony and the Fujifilm will offer better motion tracking than a conventional DSLR Recommendation 3: Nikon D5100 Again I'm not going to recommend the newer D3200 as it's expansion capabilities are less than those of the D5100, though I would expect a D5200 to appear probably before Xmas 2012. The D5100 is a conventional DSLR which means you see via optics what will hit the screen (no pixels or delay),
Pumpkin | May 20, 2012
The Nikon D3100 and D90.Nikon for photography,Canon for videos. The Canon T2i or Nikon D5100 are also good entry-level cameras for a decent price. You can also buy used or secondhand cameras for a cheaper price.

Great for delicate hair that still has perm.

I have very fine hair and it's getting thinner as I age. I need a perm for body and fullness as often as possible. When my perm is half grown out, my hair falls pretty flat and is hard to manage. But perming too soon with acid-type perms have been damaging for me. I finally suffered through letting it grow out completely, went and got a gentle perm (which was expensive) and found it getting hard to manage in a few months. I needed another perm but was afraid to have one so soon. So after researching online for something that could work for me, I chose this perm, ISO Option 1, and can't believe how beautifully it worked.Rolling it myself is time consuming, but I actually enjoy it and get exactly what I want. I just have to set aside enough time to do it and make sure to rinse thoroughly for a good 5 minutes (an important step for a great result) each time. I also save well over $80 by doing it myself, which is a big consideration with my budget and frequency with which I... 5/5 ajaye "ajaye" (Florida) - See all my reviews This review is from: Iso Perm - professional option 1 perms (Health and Beauty) I have very fine hair and it's getting thinner as I age. Very Nice Results!

My daughter and I have done my perm ourselves for years. I have thick hair that is straight and fine and is slightly below my shoulders. I do not color my hair. I loved the old Lilt perms for their ease of use - gotta love those sponge end wraps and foaming lotion for we novices! :) We were forced to change to Ogilvie when we could no longer find Lilt perms and I've always hated the Ogilvie perms. They almost always produced frizzy results. I was skeptical about this perm, but was desperate to find an alternative, so I tried it based on the positive reviews here and it worked out very well. My perm has no frizz, even on the ends, and is very soft and easy to manage. I am very pleasantly surprised! Two things I'll point out is that no end wraps are included, so make sure you purchase those separately and it seems like there might not be quite as much solution in the bottle as in other perms I've tried, so I would advise purchasing two boxes if your hair is longer than shoulder length... 5/5 Mcmorty (Oklahoma, USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) 0 5/5 ajaye "ajaye" (Florida) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: ISO Option #1 Perm... For Normal And Previously Permed Hair (Health and Beauty) This perm is the best I've tried, for my type of hair. My hair was previously permed, not completely grown out, but at that awkward stage. My hair is very fine and getting thin, so I really need a perm for body and fullness. I have damaged my hair in the past by perming too soon with acid perms, and have slowly gotten it back to a healthy state, so I wanted to be careful. I also didn't have $80+ for a professional job, so I researched perms for hair like mine and found this one. I took my time, rinsed at least 5 minutes after each step (this is the secret to success), and got the nicest perm ever. It was a lot of work by myself, but very worth it. It's helpful to have a friend who can help, but not impossible to do by yourself. I do have my own perm rods, this is an investment that has paid me back over & over again through the years. 0 Help other customers find the most helpful reviews  Was this review helpful to you? , April 24, 2011
